Rs 7L relief for defective lens 18yrs after op

Eighteen years after a Borivli man’s vision deteriorated after a defective opaque lens was used during a cataract surgery, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission recently upheld a state commission order directing a consulting ophthalmic surgeon from Bombay Hospital, Dr RC Patel, manufacturer, Allergan India Pvt Ltd and dealer to pay a compensation of around Rs 7 lakh to his family.
